Traditions and rituals

Uma gave me a very informative lecture on the need for appropriate garments to be worn during religious functions and rituals.

Yesterday, when I told her about the importance of "traditional garments (underwears, in particular)" during temple rituals, Uma started her authoritative explanations. And you know, Uma being an Antharjanam, thinks she is an authority on all such religious matters. That's true too.

I asked her opinion on the 'Churidaar' issue ( a dispute, even now ) at Guruvaayoor. To this, she replied :

"Maamma, girls only know how convienient a dress is 'churidaar'. Churidaar is very convienient to wear, suits our climate, covers well, comfortable , ideal for travel, and so on. Saree is only next to  this. Mundu and neriyathu (settumundu) comes third "

I made an interruption and said "Uma, you may be right. But, do you know what's the most beautiful dress ? ".

"Saree..  " Uma said, to which I nodded my head for a 'no'.  "Then what?" she exclaimed.

"Birthday suit"..  I said and woke up to move on.

"You..  naughty.. Maamma, you fooled me..". Uma, showing anger on her face, caught me and twisted my ears.

"OK OK .. Uma you proceed ..." I prompted her to continue.

"NO ! .. " and she walked away.
