Uma is virtually with me. A few minutes ago, I called her. The call was cut and not answered. But after a few minutes, she called me (from the farthest end of their compound (പറമ്പ്)). I know, that's to avoid the sharp ears and venomous eyes of Padma.
"no improvement yet .. but looks like they are a bit down ..." Uma said. She was referring to Vasu and Padma. ".... may be in a few days ... they may let me off... " and she laughed. I felt confident on her optimistic tone and cool attitude. Howevr, I didn't comment much, I just murmered "yeah... they have to ..." But my mind was roaming violent. Uma continued, and said "every hour, I make a broadcast to Kunjamma... and more in the evening when Achan is at home ... ' I got a good job there .. I can't throw it off... who will give me job .. like this ...? ' ... and the praise over Mammen.... "
She continued ..." I can hear Kunjamma grinding her teeth ... and see the fire spitting from her eyes...... whenever I shout this bradcast ..... But I achan is cooling down ... certainly ... he said twice ..'athu sariyaaa, pakshe !? ' ... "
That's a good sign. Vasu is getting softer. Padma too would ... shortly. I am confident. I'll wait and watch. Things have strted softening. Now, everyhing will get into her stride .. may be in a feww days or at worst, in afew weeks. See, patience pays !
I read out Devu's post in full to Uma. She was but locked on to "Madhura neriyathu".
"Maammaa.... madhura neriyathu avide kittumo ? ... " she asked me.
"Veno ? ... nokkatte ... pakshe, thaarudukkatha naatil entu maduraneriyathu ? { "വേണോ ? ... നോക്കട്ടെ ... പക്ഷെ, താരുടുക്കാത്ത നാട്ടില് എന്തു മടുരനെരിയത് ? }... I just exclaimed.
I was referring to this city. "Thaar and onnara" culture is missing from this part of Kerala. To be more realistic, women (except the younger generation , may be below 25, who have panties) in this southernmost part (including this city) of Kerala do not wear any undie ! Thaar may be with just below one percent of women. Yes ... I am sure !!
Any difference of opinion ?

Normally young generation do not wear onnaramundu. But in occasions like visiting temples, and religious functions like sarpam thullal, sarpakalam etc. all girls of the tharavadu wears onnara as untie. Also young married girls are interested to wear onnara, since their husbands are insisting them to use it. In middle karala, most of the girls knows how to wear onnara, thorthmundu etc. as thar. Still somedays it is continue.
